Past events have included:
The Annual East Egg Hunt: The Merchants hold this event in conjunction with the BID and the Norwich Volunteer Fire Dept. This well attended event, located in East and West Park, was revitalized in 2009 and has been improved upon for the past two years.
FIRST THURSDAYS is an event brought to the community by the Norwich Merchants Association. Held the first Thursday of June, July, and August from 6 to 8pm, it is a stage for local shops, restaurants and community groups to showcase the downtown neighborhood scene. While many community members enjoy walking the downtown streets in the summer, particularly now with downtown Norwich’s beautiful new streetscape project complete and the parks project underway, First Thursdays will give downtown visitors a chance to experience local shops, eat at one of the many locally owned restaurants, view cool new art, listen to live music and still have plenty of surprises to explore! Association members intend to “shop swap” during the event so that downtown visitors will find new displays, samples and exhibits in many of their familiar stores. The Association intends for the event to be a place to meet friends, to appreciate the preservation of the historical downtown neighborhood and a chance to break away from the hustle of malls and strip malls.
Sidewalk Sale Days: This free family event takes place on the streets downtown the last weekend in July. It showcases all the Norwich area has to offer in goods, services and cultural opportunities. The weekend of activities includes a free movie, bounce houses, and numerous children's activities.
The Pumpkin Festival Boo Bash: This family friendly activity takes place during the annual Pumpkin Festival downtown. Participating merchant members reward the community with over $300 in prizes to the contestants.
The Reindeer Run Holiday Promotion: This local shopping program offers over $500 in prizes and awards to winning participants – simply for shopping local during the Holidays.
